The Diamond Defense Ballistic Assault Barrier System™ is a proprietary, factory-produced transparent protective assembly engineered for existing glazing and new-construction storefront or transaction-window applications. The original glass remains toward the threat side while the transparent BABS PCX™ Polycarbonate Hybrid is installed on the protected interior side, preserving visibility and architectural appearance.
A proprietary Energy Management Zone™ provides engineered separation for controlled system flexure and impact-energy dispersion while adding thermal resistance to help reduce heat transfer. A blast-rated structural sealant permanently bonds the system to the frame, supporting structural integrity and impact resistance.
The complete assembly is engineered to resist ballistic threats, delay forced entry, and provide valuable response time while preserving optical clarity, architectural intent, and everyday functionality. Configurations are available for retrofit or new construction and for single- or dual-pane glazing.

The Ballistic Assault Barrier System™ is purposefully engineered as a unidirectional protective assembly. Existing glass remains toward the threat side, while the BABS PCX™ Polycarbonate Hybrid and proprietary Energy Management Zone™ are positioned on the protected interior side.
This controlled orientation allows the components to work together to absorb and disperse incoming ballistic and forced-entry energy while helping retain damaged glazing within the opening.

BABS can be coordinated with qualifying 3M Safety & Security Window Film installations as part of a complete project-specific assembly. Film and the applicable impact-protection attachment system are installed by an appropriately authorized independent 3M dealer or installer, while Diamond Defense engineers, manufactures, and installs BABS.

The independent film professional completes the approved 3M film and attachment-system scope, including the applicable product and installation documentation.

Diamond Defense controls BABS engineering, factory production, system configuration, corporate installation, and BABS warranty registration.

Existing-installation opportunity

Documented 3M security film may remain in place when its product identity, age, condition, attachment method, and compatibility are confirmed for the proposed BABS configuration. When suitable, this can avoid unnecessary film replacement, reduce project disruption, and lower the cost of adding ballistic protection.
Existing film is evaluated for each opening. Current-generation BABS assemblies are manufactured by Diamond Defense, LLC, installed by Diamond Defense corporate installation teams, and supported by a traceable project record. This coordinated process gives customers, architects, and facility leaders a clear way to confirm that a system reflects the current Diamond Defense configuration.
Effective January 1, 2027
All newly initiated Ballistic Assault Barrier System™ projects will be manufactured, installed, identified, and documented under the current Diamond Defense Gen 2 system standard.
Factory-controlled fabrication
Project-specific assemblies are produced under Diamond Defense control using the current approved materials, manufacturing controls, and coordinated frame interface.
Corporate installation
Installation remains an in-house Diamond Defense responsibility so attachment, orientation, fit, and finish follow the approved project configuration.
Factory-issued identification
Each current-generation installation includes panel-mounted Diamond Defense system identification tied to its project documentation and warranty-registration record.

Current-system verification
A current-generation BABS installation is confirmed through both its factory-issued panel identification and the corresponding Diamond Defense project record. System appearance or the presence of individual components does not independently establish Diamond Defense authorization, current-generation status, or warranty coverage.

Diamond Defense maintains the project documentation used to confirm the origin and generation of an installed system. Verification protects facility owners, design professionals, and project stakeholders without disclosing proprietary identification details.
Locate the Gen 2 identification
Each Gen 2 BABS installation will include a factory-issued identification label affixed directly to the protected-side BABS panel. Label placement on the panel may vary according to the approved installation configuration.
Reference the system number
Record the identification or project number exactly as displayed. A visible label alone does not confirm authenticity; the number must correspond with Diamond Defense corporate project documentation.
Request corporate confirmation
If identification is missing, damaged, unclear, or there is any question about the system's origin or current-generation status, contact Diamond Defense. Our corporate team can review available identification, photographs, and project records.
Existing Diamond Defense installations
Verified Gen 1 systems remain recognized and supported.
Verified first-generation BABS installations remain recognized Diamond Defense systems and continue to be supported in accordance with the warranty terms and project documentation originally issued for the installation. The introduction of current-generation BABS does not, by itself, affect the functionality, serviceability, or applicable warranty coverage of an existing system.
Effective January 1, 2027, a Gen 1 project completed after the transition date will be recognized as a Diamond Defense installation only when it was previously authorized in writing and is supported by corresponding corporate project records. Current-generation identification distinguishes newly manufactured systems and documented upgrades; it does not invalidate properly installed earlier-generation systems.
